Free admittance
On the night there were about 8-10 solo acoustic acts ranging from finger-style, folk to acoustic rock. One girl just stood up and sang without any accompaniment and there’s no limit as to what sort of instruments you can take. There was a singer backed up by a strummer and bongo player, so the Open Mic Night isn’t limited to solo acts. It’s free admittance which is great when you think of all the entertainment you get. If you want a slot then just turn up at 8pm to arrange. If you have any requests (i.e. condenser mics, more than two plug-ins, drums etc) contact Jeff Sewell at jjsewell5@yahoo.com. It's normally about 3-4 songs each, depending on how many acts are there.

More on the Cannons Open Mic Night
The atmosphere at the Cannon’s Open Mic Night was very tranquil and chilled with hippy style decor. There was patterned wall throws and table cloths, lava lamps, disco balls, joss sticks, sarongs, cushions and as you know beanbags. The lighting was nice, dim and easy on the eye with candles scattered about here and there. There’s a bar at the back and wooden beams on the ceiling adding to its relaxed hippy-style theme. Everyone was chilled and friendly giving the room atmosphere a nice welcoming feeling. Even though it’s on every Thursday and most people are looking forward to and spending their money on Fridays and Saturdays it is the perfect place to go and relax from a hard week at work and it’s not as though your going there to be energetic and party because it’s set purely for chill.
