 The Dodge Urban Beach Volleyball Tour bounces along to Station Square on the 11th July, for a three-day festival showcasing the best of what the sport has to offer.
The free event promises to be an exciting occasion for both beginners and experts of this hugely popular sport.
But Milton Keynes residents will not need to travel to the coast to take in a slice of the action this summer, as a special beach court will be created for the three-day event, using over 200 tonnes of sand surrounded by an arena for spectators in the heart of the town.
Players confirmed for this year’s tour include for the first time, guest Australian pairs Sam Boehm and Christopher McHugh and the high flying Aussie girls Becchara Palmer and Alice Rohkamper – it’s hoped that thousands will flock to the urban beach to take in the action on court.
There will also be fantastic opportunities for the under 16s to get to grips with this fast paced sport with expert coaching from international beach volleyball champion, Denise Austin and Beach Volleyball Commission President, Mark Kontopoulos. They will be taking to beach, to teach the basics and maybe unearth a potential Olympic star of the future!
Denise explained why this rapid growing sport is so exciting: “No other ball game compares to the dynamic movements that are involved in beach volleyball, a diving pick up followed by a killed spike to finish the game, set in beautiful surroundings, playing on the sand - nothing beats it!”
So if you fancy going along to see some of the top Beach Volleyball players in action, or maybe you want to give it a go yourself – just come down to Milton Keynes Station Square this July.
With competitions, tournaments and coaching for people of all ages and abilities, you would be foolish to dodge this exciting opportunity!
